To make crust: Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter with pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle with water until crust comes together. Shape into a ball. Roll dough out and place in 4-5 inch dish. Trim off excess pastry and fold under the crust.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix corn syrup, egg, sugar, salt, butter, and vanilla in a bowl. Stir in pecans. Pour over pie crust. Bake for 30 minutes until set. Remove from oven and let cool
