Gingerbread Santas – 24 Days of Cookies
My parents would make these gingerbread Santas for us kids and the cousins every year. Once we were grown, they continued to make them for the grandchildren. Now the grandchildren are mostly grown I somehow ended up with the famous Santa cookie cutter. My youngest daughter still insists on making them and I have to agree it is a nice tradition.
I have no idea where the giant Santa cookie cutter originally came from, but it has existed as long as I can remember. It is only used for gingerbread, never sugar cookies. They are always decorated in the same way with colored sugar. Katie was in charge of decorating this year and I think she did a wonderful job (Mom will say she used too much sugar).
This is not my mom’s recipe for gingerbread but I am not a huge fan of gingerbread so I am always trying to find a recipe I like. This one bakes up soft and spicy.
